Wilde's Hamlet is not a tragedy!

Review:

"Henry Hamlet's Heart" is a coming-of-age novel that explores the complexities of friendship and love between two high school boys. The story follows Henry Hamlet, the introspective and somewhat awkward school captain, and his best friend, Lennon Cane, a popular athlete with a carefree attitude toward romance. Their longstanding friendship takes an unexpected turn during a game of Truth or Dare, where a shared kiss changes everything!

The story captures the whirlwind of emotions that come with newfound love and self-discovery. Henry's internal struggles, anxieties, and overthinking are portrayed with authenticity, making him an endearing character whose journey readers will root for. Lennon, with his commitment issues and magnetic personality, adds depth and complexity to the story.

The novel is not just a romance; it delves into themes of identity, life choices, and the challenges of transitioning to adulthood.  I love the secondary characters!  Henry's family is awesome, his grandmother is a feisty bi-sexual who is getting ready to marry her partner. His mom, dad, and younger brother are engaging and "cool."   Henry and Len's friends, bring humor and charm to the story, although I wish they were more fully developed.  I love that the author portrays these characters in a realistic way, and oh, by the way, they are gay.

The story takes place in Brisbane, Australia, which provides a unique backdrop and lends an international flavor to the story. However, this could take some getting used to for students not familiar with this country/culture. And, it takes place in 2008, which dates things slightly, but not enough to deter from the story.
