Review:
I purchased this book from my book fair that I was running last week because I did not have this for my borrowing library. I love the meaning behind any book written or illustrated by Peter Reynolds.
This picture would be perfect to remind students that we all have worries and choices throughout our daily lives and we have to find our own path on how we are going to deal with them. You can share this book with students at any time throughout the year to give them reminders about making the right choice and let things go when they are not going our way.
The illustrations in this book are simple but will attract young readers with the animated feel of the pictures.
Kids and adults will love this book because of the meaning behind it. My school bases their daily curriculum on SEL learning and this would be a perfect book to read at any time during the school year to give students the boost of confidence they may need to achieve something.
Some activities you could do would be to just have a conversation with your students after reading it-talk about how they can relate to the book. Maybe students have had days where they feel like nothing is going "right". This will help students overcome worries and doubts. You can even do a "zones of regulation" lesson with this book.
