Review:
This book tells the story of how Sarah Josepha Hall helped make Thanksgiving a National Holiday in 1863. The book is filled with beautiful pictures and reminds students that there is always something to be grateful for, no matter the circumstances. It opens up conversations about what you are thankful for and what Thanksgiving traditions you celebrate. I used this book as a read aloud the week before Thanksgiving and paired it with a PBS video about the White House Turkey Pardons. It was a great way to get students excited about the upcoming break and share the various ways they celebrate the holiday.
