Review:
One day, a small child fell from the sky. They landed in the Land of Sunshine, where they are welcomed by Fireball to all that the land has to offer: beaches, swimming, and fun in the sun. Pink was captivated by the land but noticed a small island off the coast, occupied by trolls and not to be seen according to Fireball. Pink waited until they were alone and then set off to the new island. There they were greeted by Snowball, introducing Pink to the Land of Snow and things like snowmen, ice-skating and sledding. But when Snowball and Fireball get into a bickering battle over their sides and Pink's favorite, can Pink show them that choosing isn't the only option?
I picked this book up off of the shelves because of the absolutely adorable and creative illustrations. This book is a fun battle between hot and cold (summer and winter) characters, with Pink being the mediator (becoming spring), and the benefits of all of the seasons. I love how the seasons have been personified in this book; it can make for both a fun read aloud and discussion starter about the seasons, favorite seasons, and more. There are also personified mystical-esque creatures as well as rocks, clouds and more that add to the story for young readers. The art style of this book is very pastel and fun, and I think elementary students would love it and pick it up from shelves. Such a fun springtime read!
