Review:
Little Wolf's Howl is a heartwarming picture book featuring a colorful cast of animal friends who help Little Wolf journey home. In an effort to show her family how fierce and strong she is, Little Wolf chances down a butterfly and ends up lost in the woods. She remembers her mother's advice on finding North to get home, and sets off to find her way. Little Wolf encounters different creatures along the way; Whale, Goose, and Bear, asking each if they are the North she is searching for. While they each have their own opinions of North, they share their skills like swimming and catching fish with Little Wolf, and aid her in her journey back home.
I fell in love with the bright watercolor-esque illustrations of this story, and how each biome/setting in the story utilize different colors and shades to express their differences and invite the reader along on Little Wolf's journey.
I absolutely think students would pick this book up, solely because of the vibrant cover with an adorable illustration of our main character Little Wolf.
I could see myself using this book as a pre-K or Kindergarten read aloud in any season! This story shares different elements of wildlife and biodiversity, as well as lessons on believing in yourself and asking for help.
