Review:
Is it a revolution or an insurrection? Which side is right? Rune has become a model citizen for the government. During the revolution, Rune turned in her grandmother, the woman who raised her, as a witch. During the day, she plays the model citizen, but at night Rune is part of the counter-revolution. Now a witch herself, Rune becomes the Crimson Moth at night, helping to free imprisoned witches. By her side, Rune’s two best friends keep her secret and assist her in remaining hidden. Rune has almost fulfilled her grandmother’s dying wish that she find her best friend so all can be revealed.
Then Rune’s plans fall apart and she needs to dial it up a notch. Her bestie recommends since she is of the marring age, that perhaps she start a romantic alliance – and who better than Gideon, head of the witch guard.
Gideon has suspicions that Rune may be the very one he is searching for – The Crimson Moth. He must know everything and search everywhere (every last inch of her) to know for sure.
While Gideon and Run both plan on conning each other to get the information they need, neither plan on falling in love.
This milder/YA friendly romantasy is a great recommendation for those younger students clamoring for Fourth Wing and A Court of Thorns and Roses, but not quite ready for that level of spice.
