If you were tasked by the publisher with writing a short quote for the back cover of this book, what would it be: What if your happily ever after is not really that?

Review:

Evangeline is living her happily ever after.  She is married to Prince Apollo and living the queenly life.  The primary problem is Evangeline has lost all of her memories.  Evangeline remembers the “stories”, but has no memory of herself and how she got to her happily ever after and now she is starting to question it.  Is Apollo truly her Prince?  Are those he points out as her villians truly the bad ones?  And why does Apollo seem frightened of her regaining her memories?

Apollo, our handsome Prince is out to vanquish his enemies.  He claims that Jacks has stolen his dear beloved’s memories and is doing everything in his power to convince all in the kingdom to join the cause is locating and bringing Jacks to justice.  As ruler of the kingdom, he should be all powerful, yet it seems he fears his beloved regaining her memory and her friendship with Aurora.  Aurora seems to have power over him.

Verdict:  I loved the premise and the start to this book, but quickly realized that this title CANNOT be read as a stand-alone.  I will need to go back and read books 1, 2, and perhaps even the Caraval series to appreciate and appropriately evaluate this title.
