Review:
From the author that brought you Investigators comes this companion novel about Cilantro, a chameleon working for the agents of S.U.I.T (Special Undercover Investigation Teams). Cilantro is tasked with reopening a decades old S.U.I.T. facility in the midst of a small town's peculiar case of crop circle creation and possible alien activity.
I would absolutely recommend this book to students (grades 2nd-5th), because it is incredibly funny and has a plot line that will grab the reader's attention. The story is filled with puns and funny jokes, that I think would be fun for kids to decipher and understand as they read. The book is a graphic novel, so it is made up of many pictures and panels that are brightly colored and pair well with the story. I definitely think students would pick it up based on the cover, both because it features the characters from Investigators at the top and because it is brightly colored and features a scene that will make students want to know more.
I could see this book also being used curricularly in a graphic novel study, where they could study the author's style and use of color, character, speech bubbles, and other graphic novel elements. A fun read and a definite must have for your elementary graphic novel collection.
