This is A School Library: Connecting Stories to the Readers Who Need Them Most (aka the Jen & John Library Love Tour)

The School Library Systems in the Rochester Region are delighted to offer you a full day of learning with Jennifer LaGarde (Library Girl) and Jon Schu (Mr. Schu).  Jen and John will focus on how the universal truths found in stories can change us, inspire us, connect us to others, answer our deepest questions, and help us heal, connecting our most vulnerable readers to the stories they need most is at the heart of this engaging and interactive session designed for K-12 school librarians and teachers.  The workshop will take place on April 19, from 9am-3pm at the Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES Conference Center in Newark, NY.  The attached flyer provides more information.  You may register at https://www.mylearningplan.com/WebReg/ActivityProfile.asp?D=18662&I=4337651 .

New York Library Association/Section of School Librarians (NYLA/SSL) Conference 2023

The Annual NYLA/SSL Conference will take place May 4-6 in Binghamton, NY, and the conference lineup of speakers looks fabulous.  For more information about the conference, and to register go to https://sites.google.com/view/nylassl2023?pli=1 .

NYLA 2023 Annual Conference Call for Proposals

The New York Library Association’s Annual Conference will take place next November 1-4 in Saratoga Springs, NY.  The 2022 NYLA conference offered a rich slate of learning opportunities for school librarians, and we hope that next year’s will as well.  The call for Program Proposals opened on February 7 and closes on March 7, 2023.  If you are interested in presenting, please consider submitting a presentation proposal at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WFSY2DP .  Registration for this conference generally opens in early summer.

Information from St. John Fisher University’s GLMS Program

Do you know an aspiring school librarian….or someone who you think would make a great one?  If so, SJFU’s Graduate Library Media Program might be just the thing to let them know about.  Slides outlining the program are attached.  Additionally, Fisher offers a 20% reduction on tuition through our Community Education Partnership Program when three or more candidates enroll from a region in a given term.  There are already three candidates enrolled from the Rochester area!  Any other candidates from your BOCES or its component districts who choose to enroll in our upcoming May cohort would also receive a 20% reduction on the full cost of tuition.  Any interested candidates are invited to attend an upcoming Zoom information session (register here) on Tuesday, March 21st at 6:00 pm.  They can also contact Maria Muhlbauer, Program Director, for more information.
