We are working to pull together a LibGuide on this topic that will include booklists, articles and other information. It will be a bit of a work in process, and as soon as it is ready to go public it will be found at https://libguides.monroe.edu/SLS/antiracism. In the meantime, there are a couple of timely events that we want you to be aware of and to share as appropriate.
This evening (June 4th), the KidLit Community will host a Rally for Black Lives. The event will take place on Facebook Live @THEBROWNBOOKSHELF. See the graphic below for more information.
On Saturday (June 6th) CNN and Sesame Street will air a Town Hall for Kids and Families at 10 am. For more information go to https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/02/us/cnn-sesame-street-standing-up-to-racism/index.html
If you have ILL books from other schools please hold onto them until the Fall. Our Monroe One BOCES couriers are not running a normal schedule at this time, and we want to minimize the chances of ILL materials getting lost in transit or over the summer months. I am unsure when ILL will resume regionally. I would NOT plan on this service to be available when/however we restart in September. I’ll provide more information as I learn it.
