On September 11, 2001 two planes crashed into the North and South Towers of the World Trade center in New York City resulting in the collapse of both buildings. A third plane crashed into the U.S. Pentagon and fourth plane that was headed toward Washington D.C. but was crashed into a field in eastern Pennsylvania. The initial cost of life was 2,977 with more than 25,000 people injured.
